GST/HST Returns
A Goods and Services Tax (GST/HST) number is assigned to your business by the Canada Revenue Agency. The Canada Revenue Agency expects that you’ll file your GST/HST return according to the frequency assigned. You may be able to opt to file more frequently or file once a year depending on the size of your business.
You must file a GST/HST return even if you have:

If you have to file any returns under the Excise Tax Act, the Income Tax Act, the Excise Act, 2001, or the Air Travellers Security Charge Act, but have not done so, any GST/HST refund or rebate you are entitled to will be held until all required returns are filed. If you are a sole proprietor or in a partnership, your personal income tax refund will also be held by CRA.
